Dr Manmohan Singh, India’s prime minister, made the difficult trip to Siachen glacier and told his troops that it was his intention to change that place from world’s highest battleground to a ‘peace-mountain’ between India and Pakistan. (via Secular-Right)
In response, Jalil Abbas Jilani, the Pakistan’s foreign office spokesman called for India to end its violation of the 1948 Karachi agreement, the 1972 Simla agreement and the 1989 Rajeev Gandhi-Benazir Bhutto agreement; and vacate its aggression and unconditionally withdraw from its positions on the glacier.
Dr Singh, here’s the hanky.
(To his credit, Dr Singh did raise the issue of the Pakistan’s oppression of the people of Baltistan, a part of the state of Jammu & Kashmir state that has been under Pakistani control)
