They are already a farce in India, but asking Myanmar’s junta to conduct an inquiry into the recent violence is ridiculousness at its extreme.
In its strongest response so far on the unrest in Myanmar, India has said bloodshed was “unacceptable†and wanted its government to probe the violence.
During a meeting with his Myanmarese counterpart U Nyan Win on Monday, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee suggested that Myanmar consider conducting an inquiry into the recent incidents of violence and the use of force in Yangon and other cities. [The Hindu]Why, those thugs in uniform could claim they are doing just that—by rounding up monks and protestors into concentration camps as part of their, well, investigations.
If he could not deliver a sterner message, Mr Mukherjee would have done better by just remaining silent. For a mute spectator is better than one that makes callous remarks.
