Here’s something to give the anti-Jet Airways lobby a pause for thought:
India’s largest domestic airline Jet Airways Ltd. told the Paris Air Show, the world’s largest, it had committed to buy at least 20 Boeing planes worth over $2.8 billion at list prices, including 10 wide-bodied 777s that it will use to boost international service…
Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal told reporters the carrier’s commitment to buy 10 Boeing 777s and 10 single-aisle 737-800s was “just the beginning,” adding it was “looking very seriously” at Boeing’s newest plane, the 787 Dreamliner.
The airline plans to use the 777s — to be delivered starting late next year — to start flying from New Delhi to New York’s John F. Kennedy International airport, he said.[Reuters]If Jet Airways should be disallowed from flying to the United States, due to its alleged terror links, then Boeing should be leant upon to do the right thing — decline the order, and let Airbus take that dirty money.
