Ever since the insurgency began in Kashmir fifteen years ago, its economy has been on a life-support system paid for by Indian taxpayers. In recent months though, new investments have been made both in traditional sectors like tourism and handicrafts but also in new sectors like IT and Outsourcing (via Varnam). This is what the Kashmiri economy needs, but also what the terrorists seek to thwart.
