Pakistani jihadis raise a brigade for Iraq

Battlefront Baghdad

This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.

More details are emerging which indicate that the Lashkar-e-Taiba sees the war in Iraq as its new front. In April, it emerged that US-led forces had captured some Pakistani jihadis in Iraq, but had kept the arrests under wraps in order not to embarass Gen Musharraf.

Praveen Swami and Mohammed Shehzad report that the Lashkar has recruited over 2000 jihadis for the battle in Iraq, at least some of whom will be infiltrated into Iraq using the overland route across Iran. (Linkthanks: Robi).

Lashkar-e-Taiba is one name that has connections with al Qaeda, the A Q Khan nuclear supermarket and the Pakistani ISI. It continues to operate openly in Pakistan. And according to many, there is a global war on terror in progress.
