It’s Imran Khan now from the Pavilion end

No ball

Kashmir inspires plenty of geographic analogies. Pakistan never tires of comparing Kashmir with the Palestinian territories or with Chechnya. Then there are the solutions — the Northern Ireland model or the Andorra model. Imran Khan, he who was mugged in Islamabad recently, was the latest to insert a new page in what is becoming a vertible world atlas of solutions to Kashmir. He proposes the Swiss model.

Imran Khan, president of the Tehreek-e-Insaaf party, emphasised the essentiality of ascertaining wishes of genuine representatives” of Jammu and Kashmir who could be chosen through free and fair elections under UN supervision in the entire undivided state in demilitarised condition.”

For a solution to the Kashmir issue, we can look at Switzerland where people of different ethnicities live in an autonomous and proper democratic set-up. Kashmiris may like to have such a system,” he said.[Rediff]But if Imran Khan is looking for a model where people of different ethnicities live in an autonomous and proper democratic set-up’, should’nt he be considering a model closer home — the Indian model?
