Much ink has been spilt over the fact that ‘substandard’ indelible ink achieved what the Taliban threatened but could’nt — disruption of the Afghan election. The indelible ink used in the Afghan election to mark voters was supplied by India.
“The workers have got two pens which look alike,” said Reg Austin, a senior technical adviser with the JEMB. “One is for marking ballots and the other is for indelible ink. Workers are using the wrong pen.[TOI]
The issue is not of substandard Indian ink - but of polling officers using the wrong pen.
