Musharraf’s comrades from his Kargil and coup escapades can now play golf in civvies. Generals Mohammed Aziz Khan and Mohammed Yousaf are out.
ISI chief Lt Gen Ehsanul Haq will be the new four-star Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, a largely ceremonial role, and Lt Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat - survivor of a recent assassination attempt - will be Musharraf’s new four-star number 2.
Updates: The Daily Times writes that these changes are the strongest signal thus far that Musharraf will retain his epaulettes beyond December.
