Qaddafi’s quid pro quo

Here, have my fighter jets

This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.

After Qaddafi fingered A Q Khan and Pakistan by turning into a witness for the prosecution in the nuclear proliferation scandal, Musharraf’s disappointment with the Libyan dictator was palpable. To soften the ruffles of an old partner, Qaddafi has let Pakistan have over 50 Mirage fighter jets and spares at very attractive rates.

To Musharraf’s credit, he has been able to procure military hardware from both the United States, as its major non-NATO ally, and Libya, its newly rehabilitated enemy.
