India’s new government has put ten of Indian Army’s key purchases worth about US$3.2 bn on hold for at least another six months; citing that purchasing them would leave little money left for other purchases. Considering that the ten projects are something that the Army needs, and has already approved the purchases in principle, the government’s explanation does not sound very convincing. These include unmanned aerial vehicles from Israel and India’s DRDO and surface-to-air missiles, air-defence systems and rocket launchers from Russian vendors.{|<} This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.
