Recognition and Rebuke

During this week’s Pakistan Day celebrations much was made of the rebuke delivered to Khan the Centrifugist when his wife, Hendrina Khan was not given a national honour.

This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.

What the media missed out was that Dr Samar Mubarakmand was awarded a high civilian honour - Nishan-e-Imtiaz - for his contribution to nuclear physics. The good physicist is both the man behind Pakistan’s nuclear weapons programme as well as the solid-fuelled missile programme.

Nukes and missiles it appears, are still revered in Musharraf’s U-turned Pakistan.
